ASIAN CUP CHAMPS!

Congratulations to the @basketballaus U17 Crocodiles who won gold at the FIBA U16 Asian Championships this week. 

Zone 34 and @sydneykings physio Simon Hall was part of the support staff for the team, and looks like he was pretty happy with the win!

Simon is back in the clinic tomorrow, and  we will be bailing him up for stories from his time in Qatar.

HUGE OPPORTUNITY!!!

With a number of exciting developments coming up we are looking for the next outstanding physiotherapists to join our team. 

The exact hours and role will be determined by the ideal applicant (or two). We are on a upwards trajectory, and are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want join us on the journey.

Experienced Sports Physiotherapists and upcoming pathway physios who want to progress into elite sport are welcome to apply. 

About the clinic
- Established in 2017
- 5 Sports + Exercise Physiotherapists (over 80 years clinical years experience combined)
- 1 Hand Therapist
- 1 Sports Dietitian
- 2 Exercise Physiologists (via Sydney Sports and Exercise Physiology)
- Physio providers to Sydney Kings NBL and UTS Randwick Sparks Netball teams
- Additional Sports Team partnerships to be announced in the coming months!

The role:
- Permanent Part Time to start (full time available based on clinical case load)
- Roles with Professional and Sub elite basketball and netball teams
- Mentored by Sports Physiotherapists (who work with Australian Boomers, Australian Ballet, Australian Paralympics and NSWIS)
- Weekly PD
- Access to force plates and performance gym equipment

Clinic start date will depend on successful applicant, with sports team coverage to begin in September. 

What are we looking for?
- Motivated and enthusiatic individuals with experience working in teams
- Ability to work independently under time and external pressures
- Open to feedback and collaboration for both personal and program growth
- Knowledge of S+C Principles (Level 1 ASCA or similiar qualification preferred)
- Experience preparing and impementing rehab plans, including exit criteria
- Embarking on, or having completed, APA Sports Physiotherapy title
- Prepared to work on weekends and evenings

A sneak peak on what you will find...

The most common mechanism of ankle injury is forced ankle plantar flexion and inversion, which distracts the anterolateral aspect of the joint, commonly injuring anterolateral structures like the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) (Van den Bekerom et al., 2013). 

On the other side of the joint, the structures in the posteromedial aspect of the joint are compressed (Van den Bekerom et al., 2013), commonly including the FHL tendon within its fibro-osseous tunnel (Sharpe et al., 2020). 

The FHL tendon can also be implicated secondary to ankle injuries as the proximity of its synovial sheath to the ankle joint (directly communicating in approximately 20% of individuals) can allow ankle effusion to leak into it, acting as a pseudo-tenosynovitis.

Beyond managing the painful FHL, rehabilitation must consider any functional impairments of the FHL

KINGS 🤴 💜💛

Last night was epic. @sydneykings winning the title at home, and celebrating with 16,000 friends and family!

After a roller coaster of a season on and off the court, it is pretty special seeing this group accomplish their goal.

Thanks to @tobyjbanfield for leading the Performance and Medical department, and the Kings for having us on board.

@simon_the_physio was instrumental in getting the team fit and peaking at the right time.

Special thanks to our physio interns who brought energy and enthusiasm throughout the season.  We are grateful for your time, and look forward to seeing you all continue to grow.

But for now, time to celebrate and swap some stories! 🍻
