Every couple of years our Sports Physio Dave heads across to New Zealand for a multi day hike with a couple of mates.

In the lead up to this years hike around Travers – Sabine circuit, Dave sought the help of physio Isnad to manage his knee pain prior to the walk, which consisted of mobility and strength work. Sports Dietitian Ellen provided advice on nutrition and hydration strategies for the hike. Light weight options are essential when walking over 20km per day in the mountains. The steep descent on Day 2 gave Dave’s quads a tough work out. Sounds like next year he will be calling on exercise physiologist Cameron to develop a strength program a few months out from the hike.

If you have a hike or other endurance event coming up let our multi disciplinary team get you ready to smash it out, and most importantly enjoy the experience!
